It's easy to get impatient with the results of homeschooling. Out of fear, we panic when a workbook isn't complete, or a concept isn't grasped. What happens if our child NEVER understands what we are trying to teach them. What will happen to their test scores? Will they fall behind grade level? Will they even graduate?
I remember those feelings!
Just as important as it is to have goals for our homeschooling and for our children, it is even more important to remember that there are people involved, relationships at stake, and different learning styles and speeds for different children. If we get too caught up in the product, and the destination, we will miss the beauty and joy of the journey.
People must come first. The process must be savored and then the product will take care of itself.
